yes there is such a thing as Alternative Recycling

Why? The Blue Bag system doesn't recycle all the material that is put in the blue bags. A certain percent goes into the trash due to the limitations of the sorting system. They also don't recycle all the types of materials that the alternative recyclers do.

The Resource Center has free drop off sites and a reasonable fee-based pick-up service. Ken Dunn is the founder and main person at the Resource Center. They have many other wonderful programs, especially urban farms such as City Farm (the director of City Farm is Tim Wilson, Water's Garden protege and alum) job training, composting, and compost sales. Recycle Plus is a small local recycling business run by Gary Zuckerman. The fee is around $20/mo last we checked. They are low tech. no website last we checked.
